Food, Glorious Food!
We’ll admit it: we both love to eat. (It’s a good thing we’re both pretty active!) Family meals were a big part of our lives growing up. And baking is a specialty for Beth, who grew up in the kitchen creating amazing desserts and traditional Italian cookies alongside her mom and dad.
Cooking together has become a big part of our marriage. Beth is a vegetarian, and that’s inspired in us a sense of adventure about food. We love to experiment in the kitchen, finding and adapting recipes together. Jonathan gardens, and we both go gaga over farmers markets, which leads to all kinds of delicious possibilities. We especially love to cook for family and friends. Preparing a meal for someone is an expression of love. So on holidays and special occasions, or just when we can, we cook for those people in our lives who mean the most to us. Our Easter feast is a family favorite, featuring homemade lasagna from scratch (Jonathan even makes his own cheese) and an array of yummy desserts, courtesy of Beth. Food is love, and it’s definitely a tradition we will share with a child—helping mix the batter as Beth whips out a batch of pizzelles or other Christmas cookies; learning to roll out the dough for homemade spaghetti; laughing as we figure out an unfamiliar recipe or deal with a mini-flour explosion; basking in the warmth as we share food with our loved ones. |
